Spam ProtectionThe Spam Protection system on FriendLink is designed to defeat automatic computer programs (or "bots") that roam the internet, looking for message boards where posting as a guest is allowed. These bots then post "spam" or advertising messages on the message boards, pretending to be real people. By requiring that you enter a specific word into a text box when posting a message, FriendLink is making sure you're a human by asking you to do something that a "bot" would not be able to work out how to do on it's own. This ensures that your posts get through, and theirs do not. Annoyed by having to enter the magic word every time you post?FriendLinkers that are logged in do not have to prove themselves as human, because we already decided that you were human when we activated you. Join FriendLink by registering an account and you won't need to prove your humanity each time you post. If you have any problems or concerns regarding the spam protection system, don't hesitate to email us at help@friendlink.org.uk. We'll get back to you as soon as we can. |
